Herd of Sheffield existed due to the shared vision, creativity and generosity of people across our city. It offered a unique opportunity for local businesses, the cultural sector, schools, local community groups and individuals to team up to create the city’s biggest ever mass participation, public art event.
Our artists have played a major role in bringing the Herd of Sheffield to life, creating over 50 elephant sculptures which will be displayed across the city.
Sheffield is home to a wealth of artistic and creative individuals and communities and many award-winning and nationally and internationally acclaimed artists. We were delighted with the response from Sheffield’s creative community and are thrilled to have worked in collaboration with them to showcase and celebrate our city as a vibrant and culturally exciting city. Many of the artists involved have previously supported The Children’s Hospital Charity’s art’s programme – Artfelt.
Our Sheffield friends were joined by new artists from further afield to create extraordinary giant elephants that will transform the streets, squares and parks of the city.
All unique in style and character the elephants represent the city’s creativity, history and heritage, music, fashion, architecture and attractions.
Our artists, schools, sponsors and supporters are our official Herders who united to bring something special to Sheffield for all to enjoy. So we’d like to say a very big thank you to all our artists who have brought the herd to life!
