Ancon Building Products

ANCON is a double winner of the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise and employs 250 people at its Sheffield site on President Park.

Ancon is one of Sheffield’s longest established businesses. Its history dates back to 1882 when George Clark, a great Sheffield industrialist, founded a steel fabrication company. The Ancon name came much later when George Clark (Sheffield) Ltd merged with another Sheffield business, Ancon Stainless Steel Fixings, in 1992 to become Ancon Clark.

Today, as Ancon Building Products, the company continues to thrive both home and abroad.

It employs 400 people at three UK sites and overseas operations in Mainland Europe, the United Arab Emirates, Australia and New Zealand.

Ancon designs and fabricates a wide range of high integrity steel products for the Construction Industry, supplying a variety of construction sectors including housing, commercial, stadia and infrastructure.

Ancon’s structural steel fixings typically support, restrain and reinforce masonry and concrete. They provide strength and stability to buildings and structures around the world, from repairing the Sheffield Cholera Monument, to strengthening The Shard office tower in London, to reinforcing the walkways of the Sydney Opera House.

The ingenuity of its products, and the global nature of its business, have been recognised at the highest level. Ancon received the Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2012 for the development and commercial success of a unique lockable dowel system for post-tensioned concrete construction. In 2015, it received a second Queen’s Award, this time for International Trade, in recognition of outstanding export sales growth.
